Reserve Viognier, 2017
Shipped and sold by Creekside Estate Winery
Tasting Notes: A heady perfume of honeysuckle, mandarin orange and apricot with whiffs of fennel and white pepper. What Viognier is really all about though, is that textural magic. The wine is very weighty and unctuous on the palate but resolves back into a feather light, finely-focused finish. Kinda like a sumo wrestler that can dance a beautiful ballet.
Viognier will always be an exotic rarity in Niagara - it needs a very warm site in October to ripen properly. Our tiny, perfect Vio block at QRV was originally planted to service our flagship Broken Press Syrah/Viognier red wine, but we noticed very early on that the varietal wine was a stunner too.Year-in year-out those vines deliver the goods, and we can make another small batch of the ‘‘delicious impossibility’’ that is Viognier.
