Intense ruby red color of great brilliance with purple nuances. The fruity note dominates, with aroma of red and black cherries, red plums, figs and raspberries. On the background sweet spices like cloves cinnamon, while tertiary notes of leather, coffee, licorice and tobacco are starting to become evident as the wine ages. On the palate, the tannins are decisive, but the texture is rounded and tends to blend harmoniously with the softness deriving from the maturation process.
Food Pairings and Serving Temperature
In order to appreciate the complex bouquet of aromas, this wine is best served at 16-18 °C in combination with a wide range of food that it is able to support, amongst which are appetizers based on cured meats, first courses with meat-based sauces, but also to roasts and small game dishes, to medium or longer aged cheeses.
