Haywire was established in 2009, with the first tiny crop harvested at Switchback Organic Vineyard, starting life as a virtual brand. Today, Haywire has grown into its own as an anchor attraction in Summerland, BC, unveiling a bold new label and a relaxing new visitor lounge spring 2023. Haywire celebrates the Okanagan’s exceptional terroir, embracing a “less is more” style, utilizing state-of-the-art concrete tanks and a gentle winemaking hand.

WINEMAKING

Pink Bub is made from 100% old vine Pinot Blanc grapes that were whole cluster pressed then fermented and aged in concrete tanks. Secondary fermentation occurred in horizontal Charmat tanks. Daily lees stirring for three months enhanced the density and palate weight of this fresh, lush sparkling wine. A drop of red wine was added for a lively pink hue. Notes of strawberry tart, tangy lemon, and bright, fresh pure red apple. Fine bubbles, light, long body. Pairs with BBQ Salmon and Patio’s.

In year seven, Pink Bub is an old vine pinot blanc that’s whole cluster pressed, fermented, and aged in concrete tanks. The secondary fermentation takes place in horizontal Charmat tanks with daily lees stirring for three months, adding density and palate weight to a fresh, creamy, sparkling wine. The colour results from a drop of still red wine in the final blend. Look for tart raspberry, tangy lemon, and fresh red apple with a hint of tangerine in the smooth finish. New and fun, it is an everyday bubble that would be fun to have in the refrigerator for those unexpected days of celebrations.
