Bella Terra Red, 2018
Shipped and sold by PondView at Bella Terra Vineyards
- Cabernet Franc
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Merlot
Our inaugural vintage of the Bella Terra Red marries together the three main red varietals that we grow in our estate vineyards: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Harvested partially from our oldest vineyards (now over 30 years old), this wine introduces you to the depth and complexity of our unique terroir: The bright garnet colour greets you in the glass and leads you to a rich nose of ripe black currants with hints of hibiscus, honey, eucalyptus and cedar notes.
The Bella Terra Red spent 18 months ageing in French oak barrels. It is a medium-bodied wine that draws you in with a smooth and velvety palate, loaded with ripe red fruit characteristics, roasted plums and molasses on the mid-palate. The round tannins and balanced acidity lead to a long finish with more red fruit and a slight menthol note.
Pair with your favourite grilled meats or vegetables, or keep it simple and serve with a baked Brie cheese with a healthy dollop of rich fig jam.
The 2018 vintage was a featured wine in January's Wine Club package, 2023.
