FLAVOUR PROFILE
Clear and bright with a straw-yellow hue and a bouquet of red apple, lemon, toasty oak, spice, vanilla bean and lemon custard. A full-bodied Chardonnay with a smooth, slightly rich mouth-feel, and flavours of apple, pear, citrus and biscuit. The long lingering finish has flavours of grilled lemon, spice and delicate oak. 

Serve not overly chilled at 14 to 16°C with baked halibut; mushroom risotto; creamy pasta with smoked salmon; turkey pot pies; puff pastry wrapped chicken or salmon; pork chops marinated with Dijon and tarragon; grilled chicken with a yogurt smoked paprika marinade; salmon quiche; creamy potato dishes.

GROWING CONDITIONS
Harvested from Sandhill Estate and Hidden Terrace vineyards. The mid and southern Okanagan, and Similkameen Valleys, experienced an early start to the growing season with warm, dry conditions which persisted until August. The month of August and early September experienced smoke covered valleys from local wild fires which slowed the ripening process, allowing for an extended period for ripening and development of flavours. During late September conditions improved providing an excellent harvest period for early ripening varietals. An early October frost caused some issues with late ripening varietals, but overall the 2018 vintage saw a near normal to good growing season.

Appearance: Clear, bright. Light golden-coloured core.
Nose: Green apple, lemon, vanilla, and a hint of peach and baking spice.
Palate: Medium acid, medium body. Lemon, pear, baking spice, hint of toast, vanilla, and oak spice.
Quality: 89 points. Very Good+. Enjoy now or hold 1-2 years.

 

Food Pairing: Mushroom and goat cheese flatbread, sake-steamed mussels with coconut cream sauce, chicken fajitas with red peppers and sweet corn, salmon sandwich with tangy mustard slaw, and pumpkin and sausage penne.
