Aged for 6 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new, this Gamay possesses an attractive medium ruby colour. The nose shows beautiful and fruity aromas of brambleberry, Bing cherry, black tea, and a touch baking spices. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied, juicy, suggesting notes of fresh Bing cherry, a touch of black tea and baking spices. The tannins are soft, and the finish is bright, balanced and long.

Food Pairings: This wine would pair beautifully well with a charcuterie board, beef carpaccio, gourmet sausage pizza or a pork rillette with balsamic mustard. The Cherry Avenue Gamay Noir is also a wine that can be enjoyed on its own.

From Tawse’s first estate planting of gamay dating back to 2014. Quite a silky and textured wine with red and black cherry aromas and flavours with hints of tea and spice. Medium bodied with rounded tannins and juicy acid. Long spicy ripe cherry finish. Aged 20% in new oak. 11.5% abv. Tasted July 2022.

  • Connoisseur Note(s):

    "Naturally spicy, this gamay percolates with summer berry fruit and a dash of pepper. Upbeat with a refreshing wave of acidity and silky tannins. Features youthful energy despite several years of bottle age. Memorable length. Drink now to 2025. Tasted October 2022." 90 points - Sara d'Amato, WineAlign

    "This has a soft, pretty nose of cherry pit, strawberry jam, a touch of earth and pepper. It is light to mid-weight, quite firm and mineral, with moderate tannin. It is a bit harder than the average gamay but I like the structure and flavours and suspect this will age very nicely for about three years. Very good length. Tasted October 2022" 90 points - David Lawrason, WineAlign
