This Quarry Road Riesling is destined to impress. The nose is a delightful experience dosed in fresh green apple and honey suckle, with the quintessential yet delicate petrol character. The palate is packed with fulsome flavours of mandarin and citrus zest, that are complemented by a creamy mouthfeel, a spark of minerality, and a crisp finish. This Riesling dances on the palate and encourages the second glass with ease.

Pairing food with this Quarry Road Riesling will be best expressed with spicy dishes, such as traditional Paella, or a fresh mango salad with lemon juice and cayenne pepper.

What a terrific vintage for this riesling from the cool Quarry Road Vineyard in the cool but classic 2019 vintage, all lime and lemon, white blossoms, white cherries and evergreen. The palate is crunchy and properly tart, bracing even, with the very textbook definition of mineral-wet limestone flavours and remarkable flavour intensity. If there's a pinch of residual sugar, it's fully subsumed by the waves of vibrant acids that lead to a fully dry, acidulated finish. Length and depth are excellent. A modern masterpiece of Niagara riesling all in all. Best 2024-2031 or so. Tasted March 2022.

Connoisseur Note(s):

"This firecracker riesling from a mature site on Vinemount Ridge pours bright, fairly deep lemon. The nose is explosive, complex and well defined with petrol, saffron, yellow apple fruit and loads of minerality. It is mid-weight, brisk and energized with just a hint of rounding sweetness. The lemony acid really jumps. The length is excellent to outstanding, with chalky minerality lingering. Outstanding value! Tasted March 2022"
