Our new Botrytis Affected Late Harvest Riesling was hand harvested mid-November from SpearHead's Orchard Block Riesling (planted 2016) in South East Kelowna. Foot stomped in picking bins for skin contact and to free the sugar from the dehydrated raisins.
Beautiful aromas of orange blossom and dried apricot roll into white nectarine, baked apple and crème brûlée on the palate. A balance of mouth-watering citrus with a smooth honey texture which lingers on the tongue.
Drink now or cellar for 8 to 10 years. 220 cases produced.
Awards & Ratings
As far as late harvest and riesling are concerned this really hits the spot. Quite sweet (as per the 31.5 brix number at harvest) that translates to 133 g/L of residual sugar but it is more than just acidity that keeps this balanced. It’s almost as if the neutral oak has created a low and slow bake-effect to render the fat, emulsify the parts and turn out this spiced clafouti of apple, nectarine, guava, mango and sweet lime. Honeyed finish makes it all worthwhile. Drink 2021-2027. Tasted January 2021.
