We've listed them below, and we're going to suggest a couple favourites from each winery to get you started.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

a)  C.C. Jentsch Cellars - Tucked away in Oliver, BC, along the now famed "Golden Mile Bench" sub-appellation lies an unassuming winery making outstanding wine. Owned by Chris and Betty Jentsch, this winery is producing premium products that are snapping up awards nationally and internationally. It's been a great year for C.C. Jentsch Cellars!

2013 Syrah   2013 The Chase

2013 Syrah - This wine is one of my favourites of the year and it seems that others agree too since it's racked up an unbelievable number of awards - Decanter, National Wine Awards…oh, and legendary wine critic Steven Spurrier selected it from a pool of excellent wines from Australia, France, and California citing it as the best of the bunch. ($29.90)

2013 The Chase - I'll cut to it…The Chase, that is. This is a Bordeaux-style blend made with the best Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Malbec, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes from one of the top regions in BC wine country for under $20!  I implore you to jump on this deal (and get free shipping while you're at it!). ($19.90)

b)  Lang Vineyards - Situated along another BC hotspot, the Naramata Bench, Lang Vineyards is one of the oldest wineries in the region. Their portfolio features a nice range of products from whites to reds and Icewine too!

2014 Bravo White    2014 Legacy Riesling

2014 Bravo White - This is the wine to get any holiday party started. A slightly off-dry blend of Riesling and Gewürztraminer, you'll taste refreshing citrus and peaches, floral notes,  and a kiss of honey. ($16.50)

2014 Legacy Riesling - This is an example of what Lang does really well, high quality Riesling. With tropical fruit notes, apple, and a hint of spice, this aromatic wine will pair well with seafood, fresh fish, and Asian dishes. ($23)

c)  Niche Wine Company - Niche Wine Co. is the little wine company that's doing everything right. Harvesting excellent fruit from small batch lots (they specialize in Pinot Noir grapes), and producing great quality wine, this team pays attention to all the details along the way. Of course, this ends with a fantastic glass of wine in your hand that you can't seem to set down.

2014 Rosé   2014 Pinot Noir

2014 Rosé - Made from Pinot Noir grapes, this rosé is fruity, crisp, and refreshing. The strawberry notes and hint of baking spice make it the perfect partner for roasted turkey dinners and all the fixings. ($16.57)

2014 Pinot Noir - Meticulously crafted in small batches and lightly oaked, this is a great quality Pinot. Expect flavours of dark cherry, black currant, strawberry and earth. Pair this with salmon, poultry, and savoury pasta dishes.  ($21.61)

d)  Sperling Vineyards - Owned and operated by winemaking expert Ann Sperling and family, this winery crafts spectacular wines from grapes grown in their estate vineyards in Kelowna, BC. Their entire portfolio is excellent, but if you're looking for some bubbly for the holidays, check out their selection!

Sper…itz NV 2009 Sparkling Brut

Sper…itz NV - Made with Bacchus and Muscat grapes, this is reminiscent of a Moscato d'Asti. Meant to be light and spritzy, it's got citrus and tropical fruit, as well as floral notes. Entirely delicious and easy to drink. ($12.99)

(Note: I opted to suggest two sparkling wines from Sperling, but I encourage you to mix up a 6-pack and try their Riesling and Pinot Noir too!)

2009 Sparkling Brut - Made using the traditional method - the same way that all the best Champagnes are made in France - this sparkling wine is outstanding. A consistent award-winner, it's also earned a 92 point critic rating. This bubble will certainly impress, so ring in the new year in style! ($39.95)

ONTARIO

e)  13th Street Winery - A Niagara favourite, this family-owned winery has both homegrown charm and winemaking clout. They've got a fantastic portfolio - name a wine type and I'm sure they have it - and all of their wines have the stamp of high quality from esteemed winemaker Jean-Pierre Colas.

Cuveé Rosé NV   2013 Burger Blend

Cuveé Rosé NV - A gorgeous pink blush of a bubbly made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, you'll get cranberry notes, red berries, and baking spice on the nose and a light, toasty finish on the palate. Start this wine at the cheese course, and keep it coming right through to the turkey dinner! ($24.95)

2013 Burger Blend - This is the perfect red wine to keep on hand for the holidays. Made with Gamay and Pinot Noir, it's a lighter-style red that pairs with most everything from appetizers to fish dishes through to yes, burgers. At under $15, you can afford to keep several bottles of this stashed away - they do tend to disappear quickly. ($14.95)

f)  Riverview Cellars Estate Winery - Owned by the Pillitteri family in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Riverview focuses on growing cool climate white varietals like Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Gris as well as Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cab Franc. They have also perfected their Icewine.

2013 Rosso Cabernet Merlot   2013 Riesling

2013 Riesling - Aromatic, fresh, with citrus notes of lemon, lime, and orange, green apple,  and light floral notes. This is a very easy drinking wine with excellent value at only $15/bottle! ($15.15)

2013 Rosso Cabernet Merlot - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc make up this rich red blend. Expect dark cherry, plum, black currant, spice, and a hint of smoke. This wine will pair beautifully with tomato-based Italian dishes, smoked meats, and charcuterie. ($17.15)

g)  Traynor Family Vineyard - A Prince Edward County favourite, this winery may be considered one of the older wineries in the region with eight years under its belt. Family owned and operated, the Traynors are crafting really unique wines from their terroir.

2014 Sauvignon Blanc    2014 Alta Red

2014 Sauvignon Blanc - I'm a big fan of this expression of Sauvignon Blanc - it's got the expected aromas of lemongrass and gooseberry, but it also has baking spice notes that take the edge off the acidity and create a rounder, richer Sauv Blanc experience. do yourself a favour and try it! ($24.95)

2014 Alta Red - A red blend of Frontenac Gris and Marquette, this is a lovely holiday wine. Cherry, pomegranate, and a hint of smoke. It can cellar for several more years or pair it now with roasted duck, grilled meats and game dishes. ($24.95)
