My Wine Canada

  • The Free Wine Shipping Series is Back

Last summer, we ran a Free Wine Shipping Flash Series where every week a different winery from across Canada provided free shipping on any orders of 6 bottles or more. It was so well received that we're doing it again…and continuing it right through to December!

Every Monday, check our homepage banner to see which producer is featured. Then you've got one week to buy your favourite products from that winery or distillery (mixed packs are always encouraged) and get free shipping. By midnight on Sunday, the deal will be gone.

When you sign up for our newsletter, you will always get a hint the week before about which producer will be the next featured free shipper (you can sign up at the bottom of any page on this site). A word of wisdom, when your favourite producers are featured take advantage of the free shipping deal and stock up because once a producer's week is up, you won't see them come around again. • Wine Club Featured Winery: Lunessence

This month, the featured winery for all  wine club subscribers is Lunessence from the Okanagan Valley, BC.  Lucky wine clubbers will receive a curated selection of this winery's finest wines. Sign up for the wine club by Nov. 15 and you'll get these gems delivered right to your door a few days later!

Lunessence's story started as recently as 2014. The winery is located in Summerland and, in addition to having their own estate vineyard, the vintner works with other growers and sources fruit from Osoyoos, Oliver and Naramata. Environment is the heart of Lunessence's philosophy which inspired its name. Luna means moon in latin. A reflection on how they believe the planets and their surroundings have an important impact on the vines and the wines. No pesticides or herbicides are used and they farm according to biodynamic principles. Continue reading

  • Pair It Up! Quidni's Wines with Bourdain's Appetites

Quidni Estate Winery is one of the newest faces on Naramata Bench, launching in 2014. Quidni, which means 'why not' in Latin, is the maxim the new owners adopted before taking the plunge into the world of wine. A beautiful property on Naramata Road, also home to their popular B & B, Quidni was previously 3 Mile Estate Winery. The new owners brought on Robert Thielicke, a winemaker who has valuable history with the Naramata Bench—he spent years working with Kettle Valley Winery and Joie Farm Winery. This week Quidni is offering free shipping on 12+ bottles or 50% off shipping on 6 bottles, and you can mix it up however you would like. Continue reading

  • Free Shipping Spotlight: Flat Rock Cellars

Here in Manitoba, we’re pretty darn lucky when it comes to Canadian wines. Not only are our interprovincial wine shipping laws very consumer-friendly, we’re also located right in the middle of Canada’s two primary wine-growing regions — Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula and the Okanagan Valley in B.C. That means more than any other province, we get to taste (the fermented juice of) the fruits of the labour of producers in both areas. And there are few Ontario wineries who have impressed as consistently as Flat Rock Cellars, the hosts of this week's free shipping deal. Continue reading

  • Pair It Up! Thornhaven Wines With Pasta Recipes

There's something about fall that gives me a serious craving for pasta. Hearty, savoury flavours; squashes, mushrooms, braises and ragus, all mixed in with perfectly cooked noodles. This week (and my pasta craving) coincides with My Wine Canada's free shipping offer on 12 or more bottles, or 50% off shipping on 6 bottles from Thornhaven Estates Winery, the Summerland winery with a stunning view above Okanagan Lake. Thornhaven's wines have been among my go-to Okanagan value picks for over a decade. This is a perfect time to dig up some pasta recipes and find a few great pairings to send right to your door. • Pair It Up! Fried Chicken & Moraine Estate Wines

We’re well on our way through autumn and, yup, winter will be here before we know it. Increasingly, comfort food becomes our go-to. For me, when it comes to familiar, tummy-warming, delicious meals for the season – it doesn’t get much better than fried chicken. In celebration of this week's free shipping deal, I've paired fried chicken dishes with three expertly crafted wines from Moraine Estate Winery in B.C.'s Okanagan Valley. Continue reading

  • Wine Club Spotlight: Bench 1775 Winery

With a winery, location is everything. The location of Bench 1775 Winery on the Naramata bench is so good that when they named their winery, they simply used the property’s street number — 1775 Naramata Road — as their name. There are few spots as picturesque in the Okanagan Valley as Bench 1775’s spot on the Naramata Bench. And hey, it doesn’t hurt that it’s also an ideal spot for growing grapes. Can’t make it to the winery? No worries — you can enjoy Bench 1775’s wines in the comfort of your own home (just close your eyes and pretend you’re on the Naramata Bench) as part of My Wine Canada’s wine club. Bench 1775’s wines are featured this month, so sign up and get some delivered today. You'll also receive my tasting notes and pairing suggestions in your package. Continue reading

  • Pair It Up! Angela Liddon's Curry with Lang Wines

A few months ago I wrote about how I was getting into Angela Liddon’s Oh She Glows cookbook. I’ve dog-eared many a page and enjoyed making a good handful of her plant-based recipes, and while I still go to it often, I’ve had to make room on the shelf for her newest book, Oh She Glows Every Day. Again, her recipes are simple and easy to follow, delicious and nutrient-rich, too. Taking advantage of the free shipping deal from Lang Vineyards that's on right now, I'll be pairing  an outstanding vegan curry with one of Lang's best wines. Continue reading
