Our featured winery for the month of September is London Born Wine Co! Situated at the top of the the Beamsville Bench, London Born is Niagara’s only British-themed winery, and is built on a historic 50-acre estate called the “Highland Vineyard”. The vineyard was purchased by the Hoare family, who originated from London, England, in 2007. My wine-drinking preferences change with the seasons. In winter, for example, I like bigger, brooding reds and richer, complex whites; they almost seem to warm the soul in the frozen Manitoba climate.

But in our gorgeous, sun-drenched summers I’m all about crisp, refreshing wines, no matter the colour. I don’t like excessive oak or tannin in my summer sippers — I want fresh fruit and a splash of acidity...

It happens to the best of us. When it comes to the holiday season, regardless of noble intentions - we end up avoiding our regular gym or yoga sessions, we promise ourselves we’ll resume the running regimen in the New Year, and any sense of monitoring our calories and nutrition go out the window. Yup, ‘tis the season of joyful feasting, and rather than castigating ourselves for slacking on our regular routine, I prefer to ensure we have perfect pairings to match our indulgences...
