  • Pair It Up! Wine With Duck

For a moment, I felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode, or perhaps in the movie Groundhog Day. There was an unplanned recurring food theme during this past holiday: duck. That’s what I cooked on Christmas day and everywhere I went it was not turkey that people were serving but duck! I am not a big fan of the big bird so I was certainly not complaining. Duck can be prepared in many different ways and I had fun playing with wine pairings. Continue reading

  • Cyber Monday Sale!

That's right, folks, we are jumping on the Cyber Monday bandwagon. Why? Because it seems like a fantastic opportunity to get some wicked discounts on wine before the holidays sneak up on us.  Here are the deals we're running... Continue reading

  • Top Wine Picks! Spooky Wines for Halloween

Okay, I’m not much for pairing wine with anything Halloween. I’m also not super keen on trying to match wine with your favourite Halloween candy, and I certainly am not going to try and match a wine to your Halloween costume. Continue reading

  • Pair It Up! The Awesomeness of ‘I Am A Food Blog’

I was actually doing some online banking recently when I started to think about what to make for dinner. I popped over to Stephanie Le’s i am a food blog and, yet again, got wonderfully lost poking around her stories, recipes and (incredible, incredible) photos for over a half hour. Over the last few months I’ve been noting that My New Roots, Sarah Britton’s book of “inspired plant-based recipes for every season,” has become increasingly ubiquitous on store shelves and the general foodie zeitgeist, across platforms from Twitter to magazines and beyond. Continue reading

  • Canadian Winery Spotlight: Wild Goose Vineyards

While most Canadians have heard of the Okanagan Valley and their famous vineyards, it's often hard to find these wines at local liquor stores across the country. Especially when it comes to small producers. Thankfully, My Wine Canada had the vision to change that!  Continue reading

  • Pair It Up! Wine For Breakfast

Brunch. In my mind it’s just a loose term that means a good excuse to get together, eat, drink and catch up. The perfect lazy Sunday. I say loose because more often than not, they are impromptu and pretty much anything could be on the breakfast table. Continue reading

  • Pair It Up! Wine And Poutine

French fries, gravy, and cheese curds — poutine is the very definition of comfort food. Everyone’s got their favourite recipe or killer combination of extra ingredients, but when it comes down to it, poutine is as quintessentially Quebecois as Guy Lafleur, Celine Dion, or Mordecai Richler. Continue reading
