Kalala Organic Estate Winery prides themselves in crafting wine from 100% organic grapes and is well recognized for their ability to produce exquisite wines with minimal intervention. With their wines being highly regarded by both critics and wine enthusiasts across the country, it's not surprising that Kalala has picked up awards from several competitions around the world including the Cascadia International Wine Competition, Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, All Canadian Wine Championships, and the British Columbia Lieutenant Governor’s Wine Awards, among many others.
Tasting Kalala's wines was an exceptional experience and we're thrilled for our club members to indulge in this spectacular selection. Here are a few of our favourites from the July Wine Club packs.
2019 Pinot Gris
An exquisite white with stunning notes of white peach and pear with lemon citrus acidity. A recent gold medal winner at the 2021 All Canadian Wine Championships, this wine pairs perfectly with lighter meals like grilled chicken and grapefruit salad or baked jicama fries with sauerkraut.
This elegant riesling was rated 90 points by wine critic Tony Aspler. Exceptional aromas of honey, floral notes, and a touch of oak are beautifully complemented by red apple, lychee, and tangerine flavours. Try this wine with an artichoke and white bean hummus crostini or chili-spiced grilled pineapple.
This rich red blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and syrah won gold at the 2019 All Canadian Wine Championships. Each glass fills your palate with notes of plum, blackcurrant, and licorice. Enjoy it with skirt steak with pinto beans or lentil and aubergine stew.
2018 Harmony Red
A succulent blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, zweigelt, syrah, and pinot noir. Lovely aromas of light floral plum and cherry are followed by flavours of sour cherry and plum on the palate. Excellent with lamb burgers with tzatziki or grilled eggplant with freekeh and yogurt dressing.
