My Wine Canada Wine Club Feature: London Born Wine Co.

Our featured winery for the month of September is London Born Wine Co! Situated at the top of the the Beamsville Bench, London Born is Niagara’s only British-themed winery, and is built on a historic 50-acre estate called the “Highland Vineyard”. The vineyard was purchased by the Hoare family, who originated from London, England, in 2007. London Born Wine Co. has been producing wines for a decade, and has since crafted some amazing award-winning wines. Their varieties include Gamay, Riesling, Cabernet Franc, and more! Using 50+ year old Marechal Foch vines, they produce a rich, full-bodied and intensely flavoured wine. They also practice sustainability, including a living green roof and solar heating.

We’ve tasted London Born’s wines, and we’re excited for our subscribers to receive a selection of these fantastic vintages that are included in this month’s Wine Club package! Here are some of our top picks:

This pale, light-bodied white wine delights the palate with lively flavours of crab apple and lemon. It has an apple and mineral nose and is perfect for pairing with smoked salmon canapés, Indian and Thai curries, and parmesan-topped popcorn.

This dry, medium-bodied red has aromas of cedar, vanilla oak and brambleberry. Flavours of black plum, dark chocolate, and black pepper spice on the palate. Enjoy this with a variety of dishes including venison sausage, ravioli with cheese and spinach, and lamb kebabs with mint sauce.

The gorgeous deep ruby colour of this wine is sure to catch your eye. The black plum nose pulls you in and you’re rewarded with a dry, medium-bodied wine characterized by red plum and herbal notes. Hold 1-2 years and serve with pizza, tomato-based pasta dishes, and roast beef.
