Wine Club Canada April Featured Winery

We are delighted to feature Malivoire Wine Company for the month of April. Founder, Martin Malivoire, never expected to open a winery. His plan was to grow grapes, live on the vineyard and pass the time with a little winemaking as a hobby. This plan turned out to be the foundation of a grand idea that incorporates innovation, creativity, and sustainability.

Malivoire currently farms from four remarkable vineyards within the Niagara region — Moira, Estate, Mottiar, and Stouck, with Moira Vineyard being the birthplace of Malivoire’s original wines. Famed winemaker, Shiraz Mottiar, works with each vineyard, encouraging its terroir and unique flavours to be expressed in each bottle. From reds to whites and sparkling rosés, Malivoire Wine Company produces a range of outstanding wine that impresses enthusiasts and critics alike. Shiraz Mottiar’s personal philosophy aligns perfectly with that of Martin Malivoire — together they aim to produce fine wines filled with life and soul.

Ready to see what Malivoire has in store for you this month? Here’s a sneak peek at what to expect in your April Wine Club box:

NV Bisous Brut

A gorgeous blend of chardonnay and pinot noir that provides aromas of lightly toasted brioche with hints of yellow apple and lemon. This award-winning brut has floral notes and creamy, lemony flavours on the palate. This outstanding bubbly scored 90 points from Tony Aspler and is a divine match with prosciutto and brie crostinis or crème fraiche ice cream.

Mottiar Chardonnay, 2019

Mottiar Chardonnay, 2019

This outstanding chardonnay is spicy on the nose with notes of green pineapple, Granny smith apples, and oak spice. The palate mirrors the aromas slightly with green apple, lemon, and oak spice. Pair it with lobster mac and cheese or fried chicken and waffles with spicy maple syrup.

Old Vines Foch, 2019 Old Vines Foch, 2019

This marechal foch has a bouquet of cedar, spice, and blackberry with flavours of vanilla, blackberry, blueberry, and coconut. It’s drinking well now, but can be held for 5-6 years. Try pairing it with venison steak and red wine jus or white pizza with garlic, potato, and gorgonzola.

Stouck Farmstead Red, 2019

A sophisticated blend of merlot and cabernet sauvignon with black fruit, berries, and spicy, cedary traits on the nose. This outstanding red pairs well with chicken parmesan, grilled ribeye steak, and veggie and halloumi skewers.
