My Wine Canada Wine Club Feature: Tinhorn Creek Vineyards

What started almost two decades ago with just a couple of barrels and a few acres of vines has now bloomed into an award-winning winery. Honouring the values and traditions of the founding family, this winery continues to cherish the original vision. With a focus on sustainability, Tinhorn is a role model for the winemaking industry and continues to provide one-of-a-kind wines from Oliver, BC.

Located in the famous Golden Mile wine-growing district, Tinhorn Creek was the first winery in Canada to support carbon neutral measures. They pride themselves on their commitment to conservation, land stewardship, and environmentally sustainable practices. Tinhorn possesses some truly unique land, with 50 farming acres at their winery, along with 100 acres on the Black Sage Bench.  Their top winemakers leverage years of viticulture experience to develop premium Okanagan wines that rank highly internationally.

This fresh, medium-bodied white has notes of apple and citrus. With a lively palate and a beautiful shining straw colour, this wine earned an outstanding 90 point rating from wine critic, Tony Aspler. Pair it with chicken or fish topped with herb-driven sauces.

A rich white that is delicately balanced. It boasts a toasty, spicy apple nose with apple and pear flavours. This award-winning chardonnay possesses well-integrated oak with a lovely mouthfeel. Enjoy this bottle with flaky white fish, such as halibut, or pasta with shrimp.

2020 Pinot Noir

This one-of-a-kind red has a majestic purple-black colour with a firm structure. It's medium-bodied, dry, and has notes of sour cherry and blackcurrant. The flavours are balanced with lively acidity and grippy tannins, all of which will leave you wanting more. Start the new year off by enjoying this beauty or hold onto it for 1-2 years to amplify its quality even further. Enjoy it with a casserole or stew, such as beef bourguignon.

2018 Oldfield Reserve Merlot

An alluring red blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc. Cedar, blueberry, and oak spice on the nose. Full-bodied with rich notes of plum and blueberry, we recommend pairing this with a gorgonzola pasta or roasted pork loin.
