The two sisters, Melissa Marotta-Paolicelli and Angela Marotta, shared one vision: to create a beautiful place for people to visit and produce exceptional wines. Given the opportunity to settle in Niagara-on-the-Lake, they followed their dream and made Two Sisters Vineyards a unique destination to enjoy phenomenal wine. In 2018, they were named the “Best Performing Small Winery of the Year” at the National Wine Awards of Canada. Two Sisters Vineyards’ great location in the Niagara River appellation combined with their commitment to superior viticulture and winemaking practices, result in outstanding wines year after year.
We had the pleasure of tasting some of Two Sisters’ wines and can say that you are getting a divine selection of wines this month. Here are a few of our favourites from February’s wine club packages.
This wonderful off-dry riesling emanates honeyed grapefruit and light floral aromas followed by crab apple, lime, and a touch of honey on the palate. Pair it with Mediterranean chickpea salad, prawn stir-fry with ginger, and braised chicken with carrots and herbs.
This medium-bodied chardonnay has a light scent of apple and a floral top note with flavours of apple and lemon. Enjoy it with southern fried chicken, cod fish cakes with parsley sauce, and roasted brussels sprouts with alfredo sauce.
Rated an outstanding 90 points by Canadian wine expert Tony Aspler, this exceptional red blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc exudes lovely aromas of vanilla and cedar. On the palate, expect rich flavours of blueberry and currant with well-integrated oak. An excellent pairing with roasted chicken and potatoes or beef tenderloin with red wine sauce and truffle fries.
You can only get this wine by signing up for our club! This spectacular medium-bodied red blend with plum, blackcurrant, and ripe tannins earned an impressive 91 points from Tony Aspler. Enjoy it with lentil and vegetable stew, scallion and brie-stuffed burgers, and roast beef with caramelized onions and gravy.
