Tasting Notes: Our 2016 June’s Vineyard Chardonnay is dominated by notes of fresh cut citrus fruit and mineral, with creamy aromas. On the palate it is dry with citrus flavours and a creamy texture, with firm acidity and a mineral-tinged finish. Extremely versatile, happily paired with everything from white fleshed fish and shell fish, to anything deep-fried as well as salads and lighter fare. Serve well chilled.
Winemaking Notes: The Chardonnay from June’s Vineyard has developed a consistent mineral-driven personality that is best coaxed out by careful manual harvesting and fermentation and aging in 100% stainless steel, with full malolactic fermentation. 2016 was an average-sized harvest and the grapes were in pristine condition so no sorting was required prior to pressing. Following fermentation, the wine was kept in contact with its fine lees for 6 months prior to bottling in spring 2016, following light fining and filtration.

Jean Pierre Colas has been the winemaker at 13th Street Winery for much of their 20 year reign. One of his talents is working with Chardonnay; in fact, he won the coveted White Wine of the Year award from Wine Spectator Magazine for his Domaine Laroche Chablis.
Aged in stainless steel, this Chardonnay is quite lush considering it never saw any time in oak. It’s a joy on the palate right out of the gate. Great quality with a medium length finish. Drink now or cellar up to 3 years.
