Description

Dark red with hints of garnet, this wine has aromas of wild sage, and black berry, layered with dried tobacco leaf. On the palate dried sage, anise and bright dark red fruit notes of black cherry and dried cranberry, combine with soft tobacco, cocoa and wood notes. Background earthiness and supple tannins contribute to the lengthy finish. This wine is drinking well now, but can age for another 10 years.

Pairing Notes: Rich, roasted meats like lamb, venison, and grilled steak would pair very well with this wine. Pairings with root vegetable vegetarian dishes are excellent vegetarian options. With balanced acid, tannins and fruit, this wine is made to pair with food.

Relatively plush and fruit-forward, the 1775 merlot delivers mocha, plum, blueberry, dark chocolate and vanilla aromas. There's good density to the ripe black fruit on the full-bodied palate — highlighting blackberry, plum and blueberry flavours — as well as herbal and white pepper notes, a splash of acidity to keep things lively and soft tannins on the finish.
