Appearance: Deep and concentrated core of brick red fruit, a little lighter towards the rim.

Quality: A very solid example of South Okanagan Cabernet Franc, at once fascinating to ponder and a pleasure to drink.
Food pairings: Barbecued spare ribs, hamburgers, chicken mole, wild mushroom risotto with red wine jus, aged Cheddar cheese
Wine Writer’s Comment:
The rise of Cabernet Franc in British Columbia has been an enjoyable one to follow, as our penchant for the variety has made it increasingly regarded as one of our signature grapes. While Cabernet Sauvignon initially bested its brother in plantings and attention, it’s become relatively clear that it’s not always the easiest grape to grow in the Okanagan Valley. Its need for a long vintage doesn’t always go along well with our shorter growing season, occasionally struggling to ripen properly. Cabernet Franc on the other hand, ripens a little easier, making it the better-suited of the Cabernets to our region. I love the layers and layers of character here, tailor-made for firing up the barbecue.
