Tasting Notes: Subtly sweet, our 2014 Late Harvest Estate Riesling bursts with aromas of peach, dried apricot, and papaya – all of which are amplified when sipping. Quietly layered, this has us dreaming of tree-ripened stone fruits warmed by the sun. Best enjoyed after a good meal with a fruity dessert or soft cheeses.
Winemaker Notes: We aim to produce a Late Harvest wine that is versatile enough to pair with a savoury first course or with a sweet dessert. We handpicked 3.5 tons of Riesling on November 20th from our 5-acre Riesling block containing clones 21b and 49. This was more than a month later than the harvest for our Dry Riesling. Harvest-ed at 20.5 Brix, we aimed to preserve some sweetness. A slow and cool ferment in stainless steel tanks preserved the soft acidity and fruity character of the grapes.
Food Pairing Notes: Our Late Harvest Riesling will pair well with cheesecake, sautéed vanilla pears with Zabaglione, wild raspberry crème caramel or drink it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Grandmother’s apple pie.
Production: 450 cases (375 ml)
