On the nose, this oaky Meritage Reserve has aromas of smoke, wood, spice, and black cherries. It is a full-bodied and jammy Meritage, with notes of plums and cherries, with a long, round finish. Decant this wine to aerate it and open up the aromas and flavours.

This wine is ready now and will peak by 2025. With proper cellaring, you can age this wine until 2030.

Enjoy this wine with roasted lamb, spaghetti Bolognese, or lasagna

Winemaker Notes: All three varietals in this blend were vinified separately at fermentation temperatures between 25-29°C over 6 days. Post fermentation, the grapes were pressed and the wines settled for clarity. The wines were then transferred to barrels where they were aged for 10 months in a variety of French and American oak barrels.

Vineyard: Fort Berens Estate Vineyard, Blind Creek Vineyard, Road 9 Vineyard, Roger Pires’ Vineyard.

Appearance: Bright, semi-opaque, deep ruby core, lighter purple rim.

Nose: Medium+ aromatic intensity. Dark cherry, blackberry, black currant, menthol, earth, leather, ash, black pepper. Dark floral notes like violet.

Palate: Medium body, medium acid, medium tannin.Black cherry, plum, black currant, black pepper, herbal notes, and spice.

Food Pairing: Strong cheeses like Blue cheese, roasted leg of lamb with herbs, Beef Stroganoff with Porcini mushrooms, grilled steak with peppercorn sauce, and Confit duck legs.



Fort Berens has been making incredible strides since planting their first vines in 2009. They craft their wines with minimal intervention, resulting in high-quality products that are expressive of the region’s terroir. 


For the 2015 Meritage Reserve, the best Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc fruit from the Fort Berens vineyard, two Okanagan vineyards, and one Similkameen vineyard were pressed separately and aged in French and American oak. After aging, the barrels showing the highest quality were chosen for this Meritage Reserve blend, and then bottle aged for another 12 months. 


This wine is silky and luxurious with a long finish. It’s drinking very well right now, but will develop more complexity with 2-5 years in the cellar.
