Wine Profile: Pale straw color, with green tones. Aromas of green apple, pear with a subtle hint of lychee and white flowers. Medium sweet palate but acidity and bubbles give structure and freshness.
Winemaking: Harvested October 18th and 19th at an average of 26° brix. Primary fermentation in stainless steel, Charmat secondary fermentation. Aged 6 months in stainless steel prior to secondary fermentation.
Vineyard: A temperate microclimate covers the region of Prince Edward County. It is also geographically distinct; the island lies on a bed of limestone gravel with fractured bedrock that was deposited on the edge of the Canadian Shield. The result is the perfect combination of climate and geography for growing vinifera grapes. Our 600-acre farm (60 acres under vine) is 5 km inland in the Hillier region making us a hotbed in Prince Edward County standards. The block containing our Riesling was planted in 2002, and again in 2007 with clones 21 and 49. Located on sites with southern exposures, and soils averaging a depth of 15-24”.
