Description

BC VQA Okanagan Valley

Tasting Notes: This Pinot Gris has a slight copper hue due to the skin’s rosy-grey colour. A rich, ripe fruit aroma of melon, red apple and pear is accented by a touch of spice. This smooth, slightly rich, medium-bodied wine has amazing texture and mouth-feel. Flavours of juicy pear and baked apple caress the palate.  Notes of red apple, juicy melon, tropical fruit and a touch of spice and citrus linger on the finish.

Food Pairings: A lovely sipping wine for when the best of friends gather. Enjoy with mushroom and onion quiche; smoked salmon quiche; Tilapia baked with leeks and mushrooms; crab stuffed mushroom caps; lightly spiced crab cakes; poached salmon; pan-fried scallops; chicken in a cream sauce; crown roast of pork; black bean dip with unsalted tortilla chips; salmon and cream cheese pin-wheels; hummus and pita chips.

Winemaking: Pinot Gris grapes were hand-picked from our Estate Vineyard (Block 16) from some of the oldest vines in British Columbia (approximately 40 years old).  The Pinot Gris grapes were gently pressed and cool fermented. Fifty percent of the wine was aged in stainless steel tanks for pure fruit expression and the other fifty percent was aged in older French oak barrels for fifty days on lees with battonage (lees stirring). A partial malolactic fermentation was performed to soften the acidity and round out the mouth-feel. Limited production of 400 cases.

Sweetness Level: (0) Dry, 1.68 g/l
Total Acidity: 6.98 g/L
