Baco Noir Speck Family Reserve, 2021
Shipped and sold by Henry of Pelham Estate Winery
From Ontario's Baco Noir pioneers the Speck Bros. comes a full-bodied red wine with brambly fruit character and an intense core of minerality. Our Speck Family Reserve (SFR) wines are the highest expression of our specific vineyards' terroir made with fruit that was shovel planted in the Short Hills Bench sub-appellation of the Niagara Peninsula starting in 1984.
Winemaker's Notes
- Estate-grown, including our original planting (circa 1984);
- Gently destemmed, mechanically sorted (optically as needed). Cap gently managed through pulse-air during fermentation to extract natural rich fruit, intensity of colour and flavour.
- Aged in a combination of new and 1-2 years old American barriques, then partially finished in 5000L oak foudres for a combined 12 months.
Food Matches
Venison, lamb, steak, or pasta in a rich tomato sauce.
The 2019 vintage was a featured wine in December's Wine Club package, 2021.
