Following in the footsteps of its European ancestry, this wine exhibits brilliant dark fruit flavours balanced by a seam of chalkiness. A classically inspired modern wine.

Winemaker's Notes

• Soil types within the lacustrine silty clay range, with some very heavy and brown clay.  
• Partially fermented in an oak tank with extended maceration. 
• Aged in European oak, with 30% new, then married together in an oak tank. Total wood aging is 10 months.

Appearance: Ruby-purple in colour.
Nose: Cedary, red and blackcurrant bouquet with oak spice.
Palate: Medium-bodied, dry, savoury currant and cranberry flavours. Well-structured, nicely integrated oak with firm but pliant tannins.
Quality: Very Good+. 89 points. Hold 1 – 2 years.

 

Food Pairing: Grilled ribeye with double-baked potato and creamed spinach, beef Wellington, mac and cheese with bacon, pizza with roasted vegetables, and braised chicken with sautéed onions and peppers.
