DELICATE and PERFUMED

A striking light berry red in colour. This ‘18 vintage reflects a lean and clean chassis offering a nose that floats berries and cherries ( plum, cherry, strawberry) components along with a savoury spiciness. Recurring forest black and red berry flavours make their mark enlivened with youthful tannin. Fashioned to give pleasure. Now…get back to your glass.

Food Pairings: Smoked, grilled or lightly charred Earthy flavours - mushrooms, root vegetables, lentils, garlic. Asian Cuisine - sweet salt combos such as peking duck, hoisin glazed pork roast. Fish - tuna, swordfish and salmon. Cheese - brie, aged goat, aged cheddar.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 vintage was a featured wine in June's Wine Club package, 2018.

 

Geographical Indication:  Prince Edward County, ON

Vineyard:  Various Niagara vineyards, ON

Cases Produced: 250

 

Appearance:  Bright. Semi-opaque. Ruby core, lighter rim.

Nose:  Medium+ aromatic intensity. Ripe red cherry, plum, raspberry, strawberry, black pepper, earth after a rainfall.

Palate:  Medium acid, medium tannin, and medium body. Red cherry, plum, red berries, hint of black pepper, baking spice.

Quality:  Very good quality. This is a gorgeous Pinot with ripe red fruit bounding out of the glass. Still young, the tannins are a bit stiff. Two to three years in the cellar will integrate the tannins and add more complexity to the wine.

Food Pairing:  Grilled salmon, Portobello mushroom burgers, roasted red beets and leaves, beef Bulgogi, sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, saucy ribs with a tangy BBQ sauce.
