The nose entices with raspberry, pink grapefruit, cherry and pear. Fresh and zesty to the tongue, Rosé Moira brims with flavours of strawberry, grapefruit, pomegranate and cantaloupe.
Food Companions: Serve between 10 and 12° C with Mediterranean fare, goat cheese with garden greens or barbecued pork or salmon.
Hand-picked in the cool dawn of September 23rd from the winery’s Moira Vineyard. Grape sugars averaged 20.7° Brix.
The juice was gently pressed for minimal contact with the grape skins. After chilling in a horizontal “milk tank” with regular batonnage, the juice was transferred to a vertical steel tank for cool fermentation. The finished wine was bottled in January 2020.
Alcohol was measured at 12.5%, residual sugar 0 grams per litre, titratable acidity at 8.7 grams per litre and pH at 3.19.

Production is “as much as I can get from that site,” tells Shiraz Mottiar, so maximum 800 cases. As always the aridity and the salinity continue to rise, the acids, minerality, near brininess and ultimate stoic balance so secure at the top of the game. Such a high acid vintage for everything but certainly that includes Rosé, yet still the least amount of skin-contact of the three Malivoire blush. Acids just don’t correlate to hue and flesh. Thank pH for the needle’s movement in how this translates from vintage to vintage. Drink 2020-2024. Tasted January 2020.
