Description

The nose is delicately perfumed of peach blossoms,green apple and candied fruit. A taste finds deep mid-palate flavours of tangerine, lime, pear and a trace of flintiness leaving a bright, zesty finish.

100% Viognier was picked November 6th at the Stouck Family Vineyard as grape sugars averaged 20.5° Brix.

After destemming, the juice and grape skins were left to macerate in stainless steel for 24 hours. After pressing, the juice returned to tank for primary fermentation at cool temperature. There was no malo-lactic conversion.

Production was 215 cases, bottled in April 2020.

At the time of bottling, Alcohol measured 13%; Residual Sugar: 2 grams per Litre; Titratable Acidity: 6.2 grams per litre; pH: 3.36

Vegan friendly.

Food Companions: Chill to near 11° C and serve with orange crusted sea scallops with pork belly, cauliflower puree and golden raisin vinaigrette. When to drink: now to 2024.

The Stouck Vineyard is just down the road from Malivoire, located on the north side of Highway 8 and therefore in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub-app. What a lovely nose of peach preserves, apricots, delicious apple, pineapple and nectarine. It’s ripe and broad on the palate with apricots, limes, nectarines, mineral and citrus zest on the finish.

Appearance: Clear. Bright. Very pale straw-coloured core.
Nose: Spice, pear, lemon, green apple, white flowers.
Palate: Medium acid, medium body. Orange, lime, pear, a touch of honey.
Quality: Very Good+. 88 points. A delicate, nuanced viognier. Distinctly different from expressions of the same varietal from BC.

 

Food Pairing: Spicy stir-fried pork, sesame ginger grilled chicken, lobster tail with chili-lime butter, veal scallopini with capers, and caprese pasta salad.
