The triumvirate of a merlot and two cabs create their trifecta of symbiosis by layering with mille-feuille intermixing seamlessness. How so do you ask? They (merlot 37 percent, 33 cabernet franc and 29 cabernet sauvignon) do so with a varnish and a lacquer, established and secured by a solid base coat. This swath of structure is not merely imagined but surely a construct of cool and savoury effort. Quite polished and ultimately in balance. Fine wine. Drink 2020-2026. Tasted blind at NWAC19, June 2019.

Just over one-third merlot and nearly equal parts cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc make up the blend of this Niagara red. Aromatically it's the cabernets that bring the most pronounced notes -- anise, herbal and cassis components -- with lush secondary notes of blackberry and plum. It's a dense, full-bodied red, delivering juicy cassis, plum and blackberry flavours while retaining approachable tannins and a complex finish that delivers white pepper and black tea notes. Drinking beautifully now, but could hold for a few more years. 92 points.
