Wonderful aromas of yellow apple, rose water, lychee nut, quince, and candied ginger take flight from the glass. This off-dry, medium-bodied wine has a smooth, slightly rich mouthfeel, and lovely flavours of tropical fruits and exotic flowers. Spice, ginger, tropical fruit, and floral notes linger on the finish. Drink while young and fresh.
Serve with cumin scented pork tenderloin and roasted baby carrots; clove studded baked ham; caramelized onion and Gruyere tarts; Asian bean and vegetable salad; ginger and hoisin-based sauces on salmon fillets; ginger-based stir-fries; Pad Thai; Munster cheese with water crackers. Serve lightly chilled at 12 to 14˚C.
ABOUT THE WINE
Our 2020 Gewürztraminer was harvested from two vineyards within the Okanagan Valley: Hidden Terrace Vineyard in Oliver, and K&V Vineyard in Kelowna. The Hidden Terrace grapes were harvested first, pressed upon arrival at the winery, then fermented in stainless steel tanks; the tank was chilled to stop fermentation at 7 g/l of residual sweetness, allowing the aromatics and fruit to shine. The K&V grapes were harvested three weeks later, given a short period of skin contact with the juice, wild ferment in a stainless-steel tank, and stopped on its own at 2 brix. The wines were then blended together, and 50% was aged in a large French oak foudre (2000L oval oak tank), and 50% was aged in a stainless-steel tank, for six months before final blending and bottling.
