Description

Our orange wine is a natural wine and made from 40% whole cluster, 40% whole berry and 20% pressed juice from hand picked Pinot Gris. Natural yeast and malolactic fermented, this wine has had nothing added and nothing taken away (no sulphites, or other additives, and no fining nor filtration).

Being unfiltered it is slightly cloudy; for a white wine it has a lot of colour, and is slightly orange. Aromatically it has hints of bergemont or earl gray tea, jasmine, and stone fruits, the palate is fresh and long with texture and elegance due to the stem fermentation. It finishes dry and fresh.

With food, it pairs similarly to sparkling wines, with so many things from starters to mains, white meat, fish, curry spicy, grilled red meat used a part of a dish (when steak is added to a salad, for example) and also good with pork in many forms including braised and BBQ.

Appearance: An ‘Orange’ wine made with natural yeasts, no sulphites added and no fining or filtering. As a result, it’s going to look hazy and will throw a deposit. Orange-amber in colour.
Nose: An earthy nose of crushed stones, orange peel and tealeaf complemented by a floral note.
Palate: Light to medium-bodied, flavours of tangerine and crab apple fill the palate. Because the grapes are not destemmed, you will experience a tannic lift on the finish that adds some grip and structure. A wine for the adventurous enthusiast.
Quality: 90 points. Outstanding. Drink now.

 

Food Pairing: Grilled rib eye steak with oyster mushrooms, yakitori chicken, braised pork shoulder with sautéed white onions, salmon stuffed with creamed spinach, tabbouleh salad.
