The 2013 Spadefoot Syrah has blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, white pepper, and well integrated oak. It is medium bodied, has a bright acidity, firm but round tannins, and longer finish.

Appearance: Deep purple in colour.
Nose: Cedary, blackberry nose with light herbal and white pepper notes.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, dry and savoury, blackberry flavour carried on lively acidity. Broad and muscular on the palate with enough tannin to give grip and structure. Lovely mouthfeel and a warm alcoholic finish.
Quality: Outstanding. Drinking well now and through 2021.
Food Pairing: Rib eye steak with garlic herb butter, roasted duck breast with blueberry sauce, roasted lamb with rosemary and garlic, braised chicken with rice pilaf, pesto-stuffed mushrooms, aged Gouda cheese.
