Winemaking Notes: This vineyard, named for eldest daughter of Moray and Joanne Tawse, is known to produce wines of superior concentration and lush texture. The 2013 vintage was no exception. Fermented in French Oak, this chardonnay spent 14 months aging in barrel. The nose is abundant with tropical aromas banana and pineapple as well as a hint of white flower & beeswax The palate is surprisingly tart at the beginning but soon gives way to notes of grilled pineapple, white peach and oak spice.
Food Pairing: With its freshness and tropical fruit notes, this wine will marry perfectly with a wide spectrum of dishes from light to rich, such as grilled shrimp and pineapple kabobs, seared turbot with caper butter or tortellini with a Gorgonzola cream sauce.
Awards & Ratings
This is the 'beefiest' and richest of the Tawse chardonnays, from 30+ year vines now farmed organically. It shows a billowing nose roasted nuts, ripe apple, meringue/custardy sweetness and buttered toast. It is medium-full bodied, fairly rounded yet founded on firm acidity and minerality, that really shows on the finish. A touch sour-edged - excellent length. A real mouthful. Tasted March 2017.
