In this small lot Chardonnay, the bright fruit flavours and minerality shine through, with restrained use of oak & malo-latic fermentation. There are aromas of apple, pear, vanilla & honey, continuing with flavours of warm lemon, yellow plum & baking spice. Aged in barrel, for 9 months on lees, the mouthfeel is soft, and the finish is lingering. At the winery, the grapes were whole cluster pressed and juice was cold settled for three days before being racked off solids. The juice was then racked to French oak barrels for fermentation. The fermentation was carried out at 14-16°C, and took 14 days to complete. This wine was barrel fermented and aged on lees for 9 months, with extensive lees stirring. A third of the wine went through malo-lactic fermentation. Harvest Date: Sept 22, 2017 pH: 3.28 TA: 6.3 g/L Res. Sugar: 2.7 g/L Alcohol: 13.4% Case Production: 62 cases

Gismondi on Wine: Tightrope Winery Chardonnay 2017 Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada Love the quality, especially for the price, and love the style even more: fresh citrus, pears, green apples with a stream of lees and acidity that runs from back to front. There is an electric quality here that excites and it should be a superb accompaniment to a wide range of foods. This spends nine months in oak, but you would never know it. Only 60 cases made, but this is well worth buying.
