This month, Westcott Vineyards takes the spotlight as our featured winery. This boutique winery in Jordan, ON, is known for crafting small-lot award-winning VQA wines with a focus on chardonnay, pinot noir, and traditional method sparkling wine.
Founders, Grant Westcott and Carolyn Hurst, started out in 2006 by purchasing their 40-acre "Home Farm" vineyard in the Vinemount Ridge sub-appellation. Inspired by the cool climate chardonnays and pinot noirs coming out of the region, they planted and grew select grape clones to sell to other wineries. They soon realized they wanted to produce their own wine and released their first vintage in 2012. In 2018, Westcott acquired their second property, the famed Butlers' Grant Vineyard, allowing them to expand their production to include riesling, cabernet franc, and different terroir-focused expressions of chardonnay and pinot noir. Winemaker, Casey Kulczyk, employs a low-intervention winemaking style coupled with the use of wild yeasts and careful oak aging that results in wines that offer exceptional character and depth. Westcott also holds back and ages their wines before release for maximum enjoyment.

2022 Butlers’ Grant Old Vines Riesling
A beautiful riesling made from the oldest vines at Butlers' Grant Vineyard. A bouquet of honeysuckle and grapefruit lead into refreshing flavours of lemon, lime, and green apple. Pairs well with white pizza with arugula and prosciutto or poached salmon with hollandaise sauce.
Rated 92 points by Tony Aspler, this beautifully balanced chardonnay was fermented in French oak for 10 months. It's a sumptuous wine with notes of ripe peach, orange rind, and baking spice on the palate. Enjoy this with grilled apricot and chicken skewers or ahi poké with black rice and heirloom tomatoes.
2020 Estate Pinot Noir
This Burgundian-style pinot is elegant and seductive with aromas of raspberry, tea leaf, and licorice that lead to bold flavours of blackberry, red plum, and savoury green herbs on the palate. Try it alongside garlic and herb-roasted pork tenderloin or black bean veggie burgers.
2020 Butlers’ Grant Cabernet Franc
Aged for 22 months in oak, this intriguing red has an intense bouquet of violet, cassis, and a hint of black pepper. It has velvety tannins and undulating notes of black plum, licorice, and baking spice on the palate. A great partner with vermicelli noodles with barbecued pork or tomato and olive-stuffed portobello mushrooms.
