TASTING NOTESThe First Growth Pinot Noir is complex and rugged with aromas of smoky oak, ripe cherry and a hint of barnyard. The palate is loaded with fresh plum, cherry and red currant fruit with hints of vanilla, pepper and a touch of earthiness. The finish is hearty with a distinct intensity to the tannins that makes it an exceptional compliment to any meal.
VINTAGE & VITICULTUREThis fruit was hand-harvested from our Pinto Noir vineyard block planted 1987 and thinned to a restricted 2 tonnes per acre. Clean ripe fruit was hand harvested and delivered to the winery minutes after harvesting.
WINEMAKER’S NOTESThe grapes were gentle crushed and destemmed. A selected yeast culture was added to begin the fermentation quickly. After fermentation was complete the wine moved into new French and older Hungarian Oak barrels where the wine completed malolactic and aged for 30 months. The wine remains unfiltered.
