This Siegerrebe is clear and bright with pretty aromas of tropical fruit, lychee nut, melon, and exotic flowers. This is a light-bodied, medium-dry, smooth white wine with flavours of juicy orchard fruits, and a touch of floral. A medley of juicy ripe orchard fruits, sweet citrus, and honeysuckle notes linger on the finish. The touch of natural sweetness is balance by refreshing acidity.
Serve with roast chicken; lightly spiced vegetable or chicken stir-fries over Jasmine rice; sushi; lightly spiced steamed mussels; Asian influenced grilled salmon; Lake trout; steamed halibut with a corn salsa; veal schnitzel with lemon; baked ham; Moroccan spiced pork tenderloin; salty appetizers; spicy crab cakes; moderately spiced Thai and Indian cuisine.
Serving Temperature: Serve chilled between 10 and 12˚C for the perfect balance of natural sweetness and acidity.
Siegerrebe is a white grape variety first bred in 1929 in Germany by crossing Gewürztraminer and Madeleine Angevine. The Siegerrebe grape is early ripening and one of the first grapes to be harvested. The grapes were picked late September from our own estate vineyard, along with the Steven Heiss Vineyard, then gently pressed, cool fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks for pure varietal expression. Limited production of 636 cases.
