Beattie's is a family-run distillery in Southern Ontario, working the same land the family has farmed for more than a century.

They distil vodka from their own potatoes rather than grain, which is the harder way to do it. Potato starch does not give itself up easily, so the process takes more coaxing than a grain mash would. What comes out is rounder and softer than most.

The story behind Beattie's

Beattie's is a distillery grown out of a potato farm. Ken Beattie comes from a family that has farmed potatoes near Alliston, Ontario, for generations, and in 2015 he started turning the crop into spirits.

The idea came from the potatoes nobody wanted, the small ones too little for chips or the grocery shelf. Rather than waste them, the family distilled them.

From the field to the bottle

Everything Beattie's makes starts with potatoes grown on the family's own farm, which is a very different base from the usual wheat or corn. It gives the vodka a soft, rounded texture.

The lineup runs from the flagship potato vodka to a sweet potato version, flavoured vodkas, a potato gin, and an Irish-style poitin. The Farm-Crafted Potato Vodka has won top honours in international spirits judging, including a Best in Show.
