Winemaker’s Comments
The 2013 Vintage of the much beloved David’s Block Merlot marks the final wine from this vineyard. The two harsh winters of 2014 & 2015 resulted in the demise of the Merlot from this vineyard. The final David’s Block Merlot is a wine with wild raspberry on the nose alongside subtle oak notes. The palate displays a perfect balance of tannins; followed by savoury notes of black olive and dried spices. This wine displays the immediate drinkability typical of the 2013 vintage but clearly will hold up to many years of aging.
Food Pairings
The 2013 David’s Block Merlot will pair nicely with rich foods with a hint of smokiness such as brisket burgers, wood fired pizza with black olives or your favourite steak.
