My Wine Canada Wine Club Feature: Huff Estates

Located in Prince Edward County, Huff Estates features two unique vineyards; the South Bay Vineyard and the 62 & 1 Vineyard. The South Bay Vineyard is in close proximity to two large bodies of water which provides the perfect climate to grow grapes like Merlot, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc. The 62 & 1 vineyard is situated on a gentle slope where Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Vidal grapes are grown in soil composed of Ameliasburg clay loam and limestone. This lends the wines a refreshing acidity and mineral character.
In addition to the state-of-the-art winery, Huff Estates also features a beautiful contemporary art gallery, the Oeno Gallery, which features work from both Canadian and international artists. The inn on the property allows guests to indulge in tastings and tours, and return to luxurious accommodations central to the vineyard and art gallery.
We enjoyed tasting through Huff’s excellent offerings. Here are some of our favourites. All of the wines below, along with many others, can be found in select wine club packages this month, so make sure to gift this to your Dad!
This delightful white wine has aromas of almond, green apple, melon, and beeswax. On the palate, notes of honey, spice, and honeydew melon. Try it with fresh seafood and spicy Indian cuisine.
This sumptuous white has aromas of stone fruit, lemon and orange citrus, oak spice, and vanilla. Notes of tropical fruit, hazelnut, and stone fruit on the palate. Enjoy this with carbonara pasta, or grilled cheese sandwiches with fig & caramelized onion.
Aromatic with notes of baking spice, black cherry, and blueberry on the nose. Black pepper, baking spice, and blackberry on the palate. For a flavourful experience, try it with Chorizo sausage on a bun, and tomato-based pastas and pizzas.
A lovely ruby colour, this bright Pinot has aromas of strawberry, plum, raspberry, and red cherry. Wonderful flavours of red berries, black pepper, and baking spice pop on the palate. This wine pairs well with grilled salmon, beef Bulgogi, or saucy ribs with a tangy BBQ sauce.
