The story behind Closson Chase

Closson Chase began in 1998, when a group of friends bet on Prince Edward County before almost anyone else did. They hand-planted the first acre of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 1999 and released their first commercial vintage in 2004.

The winery lives in a restored century-old dairy barn, painted a deep purple that has become one of the County's landmarks.

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, County first

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the whole focus, led today by winemaker Keith Tyers. The estate grows fruit in the County and rounds out its range with grapes from leased Niagara vineyards.

The Churchside Chardonnay is the wine to know. Closson Chase farms with cover crops and rainwater collection, and holds both Sustainable Winegrowing Ontario certification and vegan certification through VegeCert.
