Joseph's Estate Wines is a family-owned and family-run winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake with a tradition of quality and excellence. We opened our doors in 1996, but our history began long before that.
The 20 acre vineyard at Josephâs is located ideally in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake, in the sub-appellation of Four Mile Creek. First planted in 1992, the Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Vidal Icewine grapes have become the flagships, growing well on the luscious sandy soil with roots growing down to nearly 18 feet. This good balance of low yield crop intensifies the flavours of the fruit. The wine at Josephâs traditionally has been fruit forward. The red wines are aged in barrels and then enhanced by blending together both new and seasoned vintages in harmony. Small lots of premium varietals are kept true to their terroir. Attention to detail, from the time of the day for harvesting, meticulous extraction of skin constituents during maceration, topping barrels, to the actual day of bottling can be seen in the wines.
