Kalala Organic Estate Winery

Kalala works only with certified organic grapes, on the upper bench of West Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley.

Wine has been made here since 2006, the doors opened to the public in 2008, and organic certification followed in 2010. The range covers crisp whites, fuller reds and an unusually deep run of organic icewine. In 2020 the BC Grape Growers Association gave Karnail its first Viticulturist of the Year award.

Every bottle ships straight from the winery.

The story behind Kalala

Kalala carries the name of a village in Punjab, India, where founder Karnail Singh Sidhu grew up. He trained as an electrical engineer, moved to Canada in 1993, and when his credentials went unrecognized he returned to the organic farming his family had always known.

He learned winemaking at Summerhill, then built his own place in West Kelowna. The winery opened to the public in 2008.

Certified organic, Okanagan grown

Kalala farms fully organic and holds organic certification through PACS, the Pacific Agricultural Certification Society. The approach is minimal-intervention, letting each grape speak for itself.

The range spans aromatic whites, the Austrian red Zweigelt, and a line of icewines, including a Zweigelt port-style version. Sidhu's vineyard work earned him Viticulturist of the Year from the BC Grape Growers' Association.
