Southbrook Vineyards

Southbrook is a 150-acre estate in the Niagara Peninsula, farmed organically and biodynamically.

Bill Redelmeier built it around local food and local wine long before either was fashionable. Biodynamics is a demanding way to farm in a climate this variable, which is part of why the wines get the attention they do.

Every bottle ships straight from the winery.

The story behind Southbrook Vineyards

Southbrook started in 1991 as an unusual kind of winery, selling Niagara wine from the Redelmeier family's farm market north of Toronto before it had an estate of its own. Bill and Marilyn Redelmeier later built that estate on Niagara Stone Road.

You know it when you arrive. The winery is fronted by a long wall, close to 200 metres of it, that shifts colour with the light and has become a Niagara landmark.

A leader in organic and biodynamic wine

Southbrook has farmed organically and biodynamically from the start of the estate, guided since 2005 by winemaker Ann Sperling. It became Canada's first Demeter-certified biodynamic vineyard in 2008, and added regenerative organic certification in 2025.

The wines are built to last. Chardonnay and Bordeaux-style reds lead the range, topped by the Poetica label, which is only made in the strongest vintages.
