The story behind Vasanti

Vasanti is a family winery in Oliver, in the warm South Okanagan of British Columbia. The Sidhu family patriarch came to the valley from India in 1980 and started with an orchard, growing apricots, peaches, cherries, and apples before turning to wine grapes.

The family farmed premium grapes in the South Okanagan for more than twenty years, selling fruit to other wineries, before launching their own label. The first Vasanti wines were released in 2023, and the tasting room opened the following year.

South Okanagan sunshine, estate fruit

The estate vineyards sit in Oliver and Osoyoos, one of the sunniest and warmest corners of Canadian wine country, which suits ripe reds as well as bright whites. The wines are made in small lots with a focus on the character of each site.

Well-known Okanagan winemaker Jason Parkes, a longtime family friend, helped shape the program, with Petar Djuric leading the cellar day to day. The range runs from Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc through Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gamay Noir, and sparkling wine. Vasanti is a member of Wines of British Columbia and makes BC VQA wine.
