Tasting Notes
The 2020 Siliceuse Chardonnay shows fresh lemon, golden apple and ripe white peach on the nose with complex lees, nut and a stony, salty minerality. Medium bodied with lots of savoury lees notes, crisp racy mineral acidity and lots of intense lemon, lemon zest, lime, nectarine and peach with a long mineral finish.
Vintage & Production
2020 was a moderate vintage with a long growing season that allowed picking at optimal ripeness. This wine is a pure reflection of our vineyard. Chardonnay grapes, farmed organically and wild fermented in stainless steel. The goal was to show the minerality we get from the siliceous (Siliceuse en francais) soils of our Mulberry Tree vineyard. Siliceuse refers to the mineralogy of the site, the siliceous soils made up of the minerals quartz, feldspars and amphiboles that contribute a stony, racy, minerality to the wine. Fermented with wild yeast and aged on the lees with a light filtration before bottling. Racy, intense, salty and stony this is one for those who love minerality in their wines.
