Pinot Gris
Critic's Rating 91 pts

LOCATION: Summerland, Okanagan, British Columbia

VINEYARD: Switchback Organic Vineyard. Certified Organic in 2015.

WINEMAKER: Matt Dumayne

WINEMAKING: Switchback Vineyard was harvested in 2 batches and carefully whole bunch pressed to concrete. Natural fermentation and full malolactic fermentation occured before resting on lees for 10 months and bottling unfiltered.

WINE PROFILE: The wine has a creamy mouthfeel with lively acidity and displays citrus and stone fruit characters with hallmark Okanagan herbal notes on the palate.

A special wine from a special place lovingly farmed and tended to. This wine shows the adaptability of Pinot Gris to represent the region and more importantly its site and micro-climate. Truly a wine that can only be known as “Switchback”.

Switchback refers to the road leading up from Lake Okanagan to this pristine, certified organic Summerland vineyard that is thriving under the vineyard management of Okanagan Crush Pad. This is wild fermented and aged in concrete tanks for ten months. It spends time on its gross lees creating creamy textures that add weight and complexity to a grape that suffers from serious attention worldwide. The colour is more Alsace gold as it ages, but the palate remains Okanagan electric. Expect classic Okanagan minerals, desert scrub, sagebrush and honey to combine and deliver a mouthful of delicious wine. A pinot gris with style and structure made for food.
