Roche Wines

“Deep roots in French tradition nourish our shared passion for soils, vines and wine. Dedicated to natural, artisanal farming and winemaking, we strive to reveal the intimate relation of wine and terroir. Each of our wines is the expression of one place, one exceptional Okanagan terroir. Hands-on farming is our first priority, and this artisanal scale is reflected in the very limited quantities produced. We strive to make wines of ever greater clarity and precision.” – Pénélope and Dylan Roche (owners, winemakers, and vignerons)

The story behind Roche Wines

Roche is the work of Penelope and Dylan Roche, who brought Old-World training to the Naramata Bench. Penelope grew up in a Bordeaux wine family, and Dylan, a Vancouver native, learned winemaking in Burgundy.

They started small, making wine from bought grapes as far back as 2013, and opened their own Naramata winery in 2017.

Burgundy meets the Okanagan

The Roches farm and make wine with a French sensibility, which shows in a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Dylan trained in Beaune and Chablis before landing on the Bench.

The wines lean restrained and food-friendly rather than big and showy, with aromatic whites and Pinot Gris rounding out the Pinot and Chardonnay. A Pinot Gris took gold at the 2023 National Wine Awards of Canada.
