Tasting Notes: The 2020 Chardonnay shows ripe nectarine, toasted nuts, savoury lees and the hallmark minerality that comes from the siliceous soils of our Mulberry Tree Vineyard. The lees ageing in the old barrels builds texture and nutty complexity with the crisp, racy, mineral acidity forming the backbone of the wine through the long finish.
Vintage & Production: The 2020 vintage was a lovely, moderate, growing season and a nice bounce back to production after a small 2019 harvest, showcasing the resilience of the organic farm. The grapes came in mid-September, which is about average, in spite of a slightly late and wet spring. Conditions were good late in the season and harvest
could be made whenever we felt the grapes were right, which is the ideal situation for balanced, flavoursome clusters. The grapes fermented wild, in neutral barrels and aged on the lees for about 9 months prior to a light filtration before bottling.
